DR TARA GEORGE

Tara is a GP in Wingerworth, Derbyshire and the lead Training Programme Director for the Chesterfield and Derbyshire Dales GP Speciality Training Programme. Tara is a GP Trainer as well as a tutor for the Sheffield University Phase 1 Early Years Clinical Teaching. She was Associate Dean with a role in the ARCP team at Health Education East Midlands from 2013 to 2019. She has previously held roles as a GP Partner, GP locum, on CCG committees and as a RCGP/NHS England Perinatal Mental Health Champion.

Tara works sessionally as an external advisor for the RCGP quality assuring ARCP outcome decisions as well as holding the post of deputy editor of InnovAiT magazine, the RCGP training magazine. She is a mentor for the Derbyshire New To Practice Fellowship scheme. She writes content for Don’t Forget the Bubbles, a paediatric FOAMEd organisation and is now part of their core group. She is an honorary Senior Lecturer at QMUL, teaching on the DFTB MSc in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. She is also a director of GP5T, a medical education conference provider and hosts the medical humanities podcast “Bedside Reading. Tara was awarded the RCGP Inspire GP Fellow of the Year Award in 2022.

In her spare time she is a voracious reader, a baker and eater of cakes and acknowledges that running and Rockbox classes are vital strategies to survive in the post-pandemic NHS world.
